Duration of Peak Load Electricity Consumption Increases During The World Cup

Jakarta - World Cup 2010 mat has changed the behavior patterns of society in using electricity. Peak load electricity consumption increased 1-2 hours longer than the peak load on a normal day outside the World Cup.

PLN Jakarta and Tangerang Distribution recorded during the World Cup final lasted two days, the period of peak load power in Jakarta and surrounding areas progressively increased. At normal times generally highest peak occurred at 19:00 to 20:00, but during the World Cup period extends from the peak load at 19.00-22.000.

"For the peak load is not increased, but peak load periods become longer alone. If the usually hour 7 to 8 hours (evening) is gone down, not long decline. The World Cup could just nine hours to 10 hours," said General Manager of PLN Disjaya and Tangerang Purnomo Willy when contacted detikFinance, Sunday (06/13/2010).

Purnomo menjeaskan last two days in Jakarta and surrounding electricity consumption is relatively normal because it coincided with the weekend. Electrical peak load power in Jakarta at the time of peak load usually reaches Day 4600-4900 Mega Watt (MW), while Saturday and Sunday only 4300 MW per day.

"No visible effect is still normal," he said.

With this condition he reiterated electric power in Jakarta is still safe to meet the needs of up to 4900 MW of peak load because PLN 5700-5800 MW of power to prepare for Jakarta and its surrounding areas per day. These records do not have a problem generating conditions.

Previously PLN also said the World Cup 2010 mat which runs from June 11 until July 11 next is expected to create electricity consumption in Java-Bali system rose to 5.8% of normal conditions. Projected increase in the burden of Java and Bali approximately 5.8% from 16 500 MW at peak hours.
